| Q: How old do you have to be? A: To get any artwork done by us, you have to be 18. Q: How much does a tattoo cost? A: Tattoos can cost anywhere from nothing to thousands of dollars depending on who you get tattooed by. Our rates start at $150.00 USD per hour with a 2 hour minimum. Upon completion of the first 6 hours, your rate drops to $100.00 USD per hour. This price drop is per client, not per piece. Q: How long will my tattoo take? A: Usually projects can take anywhere from 6-8 hours, and up to multiple sittings at 3-5 hours a per sitting. Q: Do colors cost more? A: Some people will charge per color. Because we charge per hour, the client gets as many colors as necessary to achieve the desired goal. Q: Other places will charge for a draw up. How much do you charge? A: Nothing. Ever. Because we love to create on paper the images a client has in his/her mind, we feel it would be against our personal beliefs to charge someone for this. This service is a as much for our pleasure as it is for the client's. Q: Can you design something for me then email me the design so I can think about it? A: No. All of our art work is done in the presence of the client. Although we do recommend you sending us a picture or sketch of what you have in mind to give us an idea on how much time we will need for your appointment. Q: Where is this shop located? A: Tatlantis Obscura , where we do the majority of our work, is located on the corner of Desert Inn rd and Durango in Las Vegas. 8416 W. Desert Inn rd. #102 Las Vegas, NV 89117. Click here for map! Q: Can I just come in for a tattoo? A: No. Due to the nature of our work and the focus we put into each piece, plus the amount of calls and emails we receive, we can only perform our work by appointment only. If you would like more spontaneous service from qualified and talented artists, you can visit our Walk In Studio located at 4440 S. Maryland Pkwy. #111 on the North East corner of Maryland Pkwy and Harmon in the Promenade Center, Open from 11am to Midnight or later!. Click here for map! Q: How will I know if my appointment has been confirmed ? A: You will recieve a call and see a green check mark next to your name on our online appointment book once your appointment has been locked in. Q: My appointment HAS NOT been confirmed. What do I do? A: Usually we will confirm all appointment requests as soon as they come in. We will not confirm short notice appointments or same day appointments regardless of the situation. If you see your appointment request hasn't been confirmed, please make sure that we have any contact information necessary to discuss with you the appointment request. Q: Is it ok to show up early to my appointment? A: Highly recommended. Our new location has a comfortable waiting area where you will be greeted by one of our friendly receptionists or apprentices. Q: What if I'm running late? A: We will give you a fifteen (15) minute grace period for the time we have allotted for you. If we haven't heard from you by then, you will have to reschedule. Keep in mind: No Call No Shows must pay a 100% deposit prior to their next appointment, and Same Day cancellations are required to pay a 50% deposit prior to their next session. Q: Can I bring a guest? A: Due to the privacy and atmosphere offered by Tatlantis Obscura, bringing a guest is discouraged. If you must bring a friend, they can quietly wait in the lobby or under special, pre-discussed circumstances a guest will be allowed in the office during the procedure. Q: I just set up a consultation. Should I also set up an appointment for the actual work to get done as well? A: Considering how fast our schedule fills up, it is highly reccomended that you also find spots for yourself for the actual work to get started and possibly for a few consecutive sessions at least 2 weeks apart to allow for healing. Our receptionists will be happy to help you out with any appointment requests you may have. Feel free to call any day from 10pm to 6pm to speak to one. Q: What is the difference between Skin Art and Tattoos? A: In our opinion, SKIN ART is basically non-stereotypical tattoo art. Often performed by a professional and someone who can immediately relate and correspond with the human being in every one. A Skin Artist is a person who is a fine artist first and foremost and who happens to be tattooing as a way to support themselves and their loved ones, not just a completely tattooed rock star who only designs skulls and monsters with only the benefit of their wallet in mind. SKIN ART takes time, research, talent and responsibility. Q: Do tattoos hurt? A: It all depends on the individual, location of the tattoo, mood, mentality etc... Q: What should I get? A: When getting work by us, we encourage something that no one else will ever have. A completely original piece of art. Custom designed just for you. Or a reproduction of a timeless classic work of fine art. We will not reproduce a piece of "flash" off a wall. Q: What is "flash" A: "Flash" is the manufactured artwork that you see in almost every tattoo studio in the world. It all comes from the same sources and it's sole purpose is to supply people with tattoo designs that they can't think of themselves. Also it's a way for an artist can make a couple extra bucks by selling his designs to tattoo shops all over the world. We do not do flash. Q: How does darker skin affect a tattoo? A: When a tattoo heals, a layer of skin grows over the tattoo. This layer will act as a tint over the the tattoo, tinting the colors respectfully. Very fair skin will seem translucent and the colors will seem brighter. The darker the skin gets the less bright and vibrant the colors appear. Q: Is it ok to talk while I'm getting a tattoo? A: Of course! We're not sociopaths and we do enjoy a good conversation, plus talking with us while you're getting tattooed assures us that you're still breathing. Also if you would rather enter some kind of zone you like to be in when you get tattooed, we're cool with that too. We're not easily distracted or annoyed by conversation. Q: Is tipping necessary in this service? A: Tattooing is a service that most artists just make a commission from, thus tips are greatly appreciated. A tip of 10% to 20% is normal according to how you felt the service was. |
